The internet can be a confusing place unless you understand TCP/IP.

First day of production

Carlton I was not certain what I should expect from the first day of production on the “Computer Girl” web series but I did not  expect to see Carlton.  Alright, his name was in the script but I expected Michael would find an actor to play him.  Instead, somehow  Michael managed to get Carlton  to play himself.  I am not sure exactly how but there is a high probability Sally was involved.

It is all well and fine having your first sexual experience blasted across a screen for everyone to see but to have to enact it with the man you had it with in the first place was a very odd experience indeed.  Michael said it added a certain realism and  I guess he was correct but please, remember when you see it, don’t  try it at home.

I can not say anything else about the content of the series because it would provide you with what Michael likes to term as spoilers.

So far we have filmed  the household interiors, including the bedroom scene.  But we still have another day of production where we shoot the coffee shop scenes.  A coffee shop nearby has offered to let us shoot there, so that is where we will be filming next weekend.  Thankfully Carlton  is not in any of those scenes.

Though I have to admit, it was good to see him after all this time.

The Script

Michael sent me the script for the first episode of Computer Girl.  I have to say right up front that I had a bit of a shock when I first read it.  Not that it was a bad script but the subject happened to be my first sexual experience.  The thought of  having people watch me lose my naivety made me shudder.  After some processing and some discussion with Michael and SaIly, I arrived at the conclusion that this is exactly what I wanted.  I want people to know me, the real me.  That and the fact that this may actually get my documentary on logic off the ground – which I still believe everyone will want to see.

While the story of my first encounter is there, I’m not so certain Michael captured my persona as effectively. He  took some liberty  and exaggerated a bit so I am unable to tell if he has created an accurate representation of my behavior. Both he and Sally assured me that it is fairly close but I am 100% positive I never say  “Please wait" while I am thinking.  I also do not refer to my brain as a CPU.  I may have at some point said it is like a CPU but that isn’t the same thing.

Michael made me promise I wouldn’t say too much about it.  Hopefully, when you watch it you will remember my concerns and make the appropriate adjustments to your interpretation.  We start production next week.

My Meeting with Michael

Aristotle I just don’t understand why people dislike documentaries.  It seems to me that people would enjoy being educated.  I do.  It seems to me that people should want to learn, that it should entertain them to learn.

But not Michael.  When I made my suggestion that we should do the web series based on the highly exciting world of syllogistic logic, he laughed.  Can you believe that?  Then he said, “Absolutely no one would want to watch a show about syllaballistic (sic) logic.”  I thought perhaps he misunderstood what I was talking about, he did mispronounce it, so I tried to explain it to him.

Syllogistic logic  is a kind of logical argument in which one proposition (the conclusion) is inferred from two others (the premises) of a certain form.  Aristotle was the first to define it as "a discourse in which, certain things having been supposed, something different from the things' supposed results of necessity because these things are so." Now doesn’t that sound like an exhilarating topic for a web series?

Apparently Michael didn’t think so,  he waved his hands and got very emotional.  “People want to see drama”,  he said, “they don’t want to be spoon fed philosophies devised by ancient Greeks that died over two centuries ago.”  Then he went on to say he had some great ideas for a show about a modern girl dealing with age old problems. He said I was perfect for the lead and he would be heartbroken if I said no.

I told him I would give it some thought but I’m not too sure I want to do this project anymore.  How does he intend to make my life dramatic?  I work and then I sleep.  I don’t have any problems except the  bugs I encounter in my programs.  If he didn’t want to do the show on syllogistic logic then the isn’t going to want to do it on program debugging.

He said he’d give me a call this week to discuss things further.  I  don’t know what “further” there is to discuss.  If it isn’t going to be a documentary then I don’t want to do it.   Sorry to let everyone down.

Why TV?

Some of you are probably wondering why I have the acronym for television at the end of my screen name.  Sally is responsible.  As part of her grand plan to get me “out there” she convinced one of her friends, a filmmaker, to make a series of  video’s about me.  I assured her that no one would be interested in watching me in a video but she persisted.  And as things usually work out, Sally got her way.  But just to let you all know, I’m not at all comfortable with this project. I belong in front of a computer not in front of a television audience.

Next week I will be meeting with her friend Michael and we will be discussing my “show”.   I hope that he wants to cover a subject that is intellectually stimulating like the history of computing or syllogistic logic.  At least then I would be able to show off my better side and besides what could be more interesting than an educational discourse. Not much, I assure you.

I will keep you updated.

My First Post

Picture of SallyMy name is Computer Girl or C.G. for short.  I live with my best female friend Sally who helps me through all of life's  biologically confusing moments.  In return I help her with her computer problems, which I think are much simpler.   Give me a PERL program any day.

I have decided to create this blog because of Sally.  Sally thinks that I don’t make enough friends.  She thinks I don’t put enough of myself out there for people to grasp onto.  She says you’ve got to give a little to get a little.  I’m not so sure I want people grasping onto me but I believe in Sally so I’ve decided to give it a try anyway.

So now that you’ve made it to my blog, I hope you enjoy grasping me.
